The White House briefing room, with nobody at the podium. A red deli "take a number" machine is bolted to the top of the podium, and a red sign above it says "Now serving 38". On the front, where the name goes, a strip of masking tape has a name scribbled out, stuck over older strips of tape. A stack of new tape rolls sits on the shelf inside. In the front row, a toy with an amber sunburst head, a blue star-headed toy in a beanie and bandit mask, a chickadee in round glasses and a toy with a shiny rainbow bubble head wait with notepads, each holding a paper ticket. By the door, three faceless toys in suits stand in line holding their own tickets.
